With 258 hp, the electric MINI Cooper JCW E is a bomb!
The old-fashioned hot hatch is slowly starting to die out. You can count them on one hand with cars like the Polo GTI, Golf GTI, i20 N and the spicy MINIs. With the arrival of more and more electric cars, the hot hatch fortunately has a future.
At Cupra, for example, you can shop for a Born with 340 hp. MINI will also release more fun versions of the electric Cooper. They didn’t do that with the first generation electric Cooper, but fortunately they did with the new one! The official unveiling with all the details is still pending, but the electric MINI Cooper JCW E has been leaked via the Chinese Ministry of Industry, Information and Technology. Exactly, the same ministry that also leaked the new Volkswagen Atlas this morning. What the Chinese government is good for.
The current generation (electric) MINI is available as Cooper and Cooper SE with 184 and 218 hp respectively. This new MINI Cooper JCW E goes one step further and gets 258 hp of power. You recognize a JCW by its thicker appearance compared to a regular Cooper and its 18 inch alloy wheels.

Besides the looks and the power, the weight is also known: 1,670 kg. Yes, that is not a king lightweight and compared to hot hatches of the past it is a heavyweight. For a modern electric car, however, you can not call it a disgrace.
The new MINI Cooper JCW E is more than just a Cooper with more power and a cuter look. This hot hatch also gets bigger brakes, torque vectoring and a limited-slip differential so it’s actually fun to drive.
Now that we’re waiting to see the looks and some of the specifications, we can only hope that MINI will soon unveil the new Cooper JCW E. Bring it on!
