MG ZS Hybrid+ official – the electric car that became a hybrid

Do you remember the MG ZS electric car that cost SEK 1,995/month to lease? Now it’s time for a new generation, and then it’s the petrol hybrid that applies.

Car manufacturers are trying to quickly adapt to the changing demand. Electric cars have become too expensive for many private individuals due to reduced subsidies and increased interest rates.

MG, which is a distinctly low-cost brand, is now going from electric to hybrid when it’s time for a new generation of the MG ZS SUV.

The new MG ZS Hybrid+ has the same powertrain as the MG3 Hybrid+ small car, i.e. a four-cylinder 1.5-liter engine without turbo that produces 102 horsepower and an electric motor that produces 136 hp.

Together, the system output is 196 hp. It is enough to reach 100 km/h in 8.7 seconds.

The energy for the electric motor is stored in a 1.83 kWh battery. Consumption is stated at 0.42 litres/mile according to WLTP.

The standard equipment includes a 12-inch screen, digital instrumentation, reversing camera and keyless entry. In the United Kingdom, the price is 22,000 pounds, which corresponds to almost 300,000 Swedish kronor.

There is a technical possibility to make an all-electric version of the new MG ZS, but MG has not said anything about such plans for the European market.
