Now generation three is ready

Aston Martin Vanquish

New Aston Martin Vanquish:

The time has come to replace the DBS Superleggera, but the new Vanquish – the third in the series – will only be built in 1,000 copies a year.

A new Vanquish appears, but it is not the mid-engined supercar we met as a concept five years ago that we will now see.

Due in showrooms later this year, the new Vanquish follows the same front-engine grand-tourer path as its predecessors, as well as the DBS Superleggera it replaces.

Only with V12

The third generation Vanquish will be the only Aston Martin with a V12 and boasts 835 horsepower and 1,000 newton meters from its 5.2-liter V12. The displacement is the same as before, but the power is up from 725 hp in the predecessor.

The engine sends the power to the rear wheels through an 8-speed automatic gearbox, where the power is distributed through an electronically controlled differential. According to Aston Martin, the car will take you to 60 miles (96 km/h) in 3.2 seconds and on to a top speed of 345 km/h.

Although the DBS Superleggera was big, the Vanquish is even bigger with a length of 485 cm. Most of the extra length is found between the A-pillar and the front axle. A larger grill, new headlights with LED matrix technology, a panoramic sunroof and a black panel in the rear give the car a different design compared to the DBS.

In each corner sits a Pirelli P Zero tire on a 21-inch rim, and the car has a carbon-ceramic brake system as standard.

Most everything in place

Inside, most things are the same as in the DB12, new Vantage and the latest versions of the DBS, with 12.3-inch screens replacing traditional instruments and a corresponding screen for infotainment. Additionally, the car has a physical panel on the center console instead of the Mercedes panel used in the DBS Sperleggera.

Sporty bucket seats are standard, but you can also get the Vanquish with carbon fiber seat backs as an option. The almost comically small rear seats of the DBS Superleggera have been replaced with a luggage storage area, and Aston Martin is happy to tailor the luggage for you.

No price has yet been announced, but Aston Martin has opened the door for orders for the newcomer, of which only 1,000 will be produced a year.
