A go-kart track in your backyard, is that allowed?

What may be a dream for one person is a nightmare for another, like a go-kart track in the backyard.

When you crawl into bed at night and start dreaming, all sorts of things probably come to mind. Racing around the track in your dream car, meeting that one actress/actor (delete as appropriate), or a go-kart track in your backyard. Look, some people make dreams come true. Like a man in the American state of Maryland.

There is also a good cause in this story. The son of the man is a karting talent and the father hopes for a professional racing career for him. Then you can drive to the karting track every week, or you build one in your backyard. Your son can practice as much as possible and a new Max Verstappen is in the making!

What this man did not take into account is his neighbors. Of course it is great fun for yourself and your friends to convert your backyard into an amusement park. The question is whether the neighbors like it that much. In this case, that is absolutely not the case.

The man in Maryland hasn’t been able to enjoy the go-kart track in his backyard for a minute, because the quarrel with the neighbors started with the construction of it. The neighbors complain about noise pollution and want the go-kart track to be demolished. A petition has even been created. In addition, the man allegedly does not have the right permits for the construction.

The petition has 90 signatures at the time of writing. If this eventually ends up in court and it does not comply with the permits, the man will have to fear for his go-kart track in the backyard. So what have we learned? First go to the municipality, then build a go-kart track! Or just stick to Mario Kart..
