Aston Martin Vantage for 25,000 euros on Marktplaats

Do you dare? An Aston Martin Vantage for sale on Marktplaats for only 25 grand!

A car that looks like you’ve won the lottery, but secretly you didn’t have to pay that much for it. The Aston Martin Vantage is a great example of that.

The car’s ingenious design is so timeless that the coupe still looks great in 2024. I have yet to meet the first person on the planet who thinks the Vantage is not a beautiful car.

Although the looks of the car are exotic, the technology is not. The Aston Martin has an interior with parts that remind you of a Ford or Jaguar from that time. The 4.3 liter V8 with 385 hp no longer makes you the king at the traffic lights in this era. Yes, with five seconds to a hundred it is still a fast car. A somewhat electric car with some power does that nowadays too.

But that’s not what it’s about at all, certainly not with this used car. This Aston Martin Vantage is for sale on Marktplaats for 25,500 euros! And no, this Brit hasn’t driven five hundred thousand. The mileage is 125,411.

So what’s going on here? There are some electronic skeletons in the closet. The first “hmmm” comes up because of the expired MOT. That makes driving on public roads difficult. The second “hmm” is electronically related. An error code can cause the car to start in emergency mode. According to the seller, that doesn’t happen every time you start the car, but sporadically. Good story. Oh yes, the steering wheel is on the other side. The steering wheel is not original, just like the AMR seats. Minor thing.

In short, this car needs some love. The Aston Martin Vantage is for sale for 25,500 euros on Marktplaats, but you might also have to spend 10 grand on maintenance. Who knows, may say.

If the steering wheel can be on the wrong side, you could also consider getting one on the other side of the Channel. I think older cars are priced a lot friendlier there. And you don’t have to pay BPM anymore for imports of this age.

But since Brexit, import duties plus VAT?

Exactly. For a little more money you can get a significantly better one.

Also curious if it is 125 thousand kilometers or miles that he has traveled. Makes quite a difference, if it is miles traveled then it is at 2 tons in km.

The ad copy mentions 78,000 miles.

Immediately useless in my eyes, because I want to drive a car without problems. And no valid MOT for such a car and for that money, is a total no-go!

You can be happy with 10k for maintenance/repair with such a thing, despite the Ford parts. Granted, it could easily be a tired sensor. But just read the trip computer and you will know pretty quickly what is wrong.

It’s very simple actually and then you can really become suspicious why the current owner/seller doesn’t fix it or at least mention it..

The different steering wheel and the different seats don’t necessarily have to be something strange. It could be that the previous owner did that for a bit of sportiness. To be honest, you prefer to have it original.

These kind of error codes however give me goosebumps. If it was that easy/cheap to fix then this owner would have done it, especially to sell it in better condition.

Tempting, but still with a wide berth around it I think.
