The Skoda Scala (and Kamiq) has had a facelift, and the underrated and very spacious family car in the Golf class offers a lot of car for the money. Prices start at just DKK 214,995.
The Skoda Scala is the “secret” model in the Golf class. A hatchback that lies snugly between Fabia and Octavia, but also a model that has not received the attention it deserves.
Very roomy for its size, the Scala is neutral, comfortable and in every way stringy. The prices of the facelifted Scala have just arrived, and it is almost hard to believe that the price of the cheapest is right: DKK 214,995.
For that kind of money, you have to change gears yourself in the 436 cm long hatchback (the VW Golf is eight cm shorter), and the 1-liter turbo engine probably won’t take the wheel away from you with its 95 hp. But what you get is a solid, spacious and safe family car that has just enough standard equipment that you don’t need to spend money on extra equipment.
150 hp, automatic transmission and lots of equipment for DKK 299,995.
The facelift that Skoda has given to the Scala beautifies both the outside and the inside. A new grill, new headlights and larger screen area in the cabin. The engine program is simple. A 1-litre petrol engine with three cylinders and either 95 or 115 hp, and where 95 hp always comes with a manual gearbox, the stronger variant is available with a manual gearbox or automatic DSG dual clutch.
The top model with a 150bhp 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbo engine has the DSG gearbox as standard and this engine also automatically comes with the higher of the two trim levels. Even so, at DKK 299,995 it does not reach DKK 300,000.
Scala is available in the renewed form as Essence and as Selection. Essence has what you need: LED lights, air conditioning, heated front seats, cruise control, infotainment system with 8.25″ touchscreen, digital instrumentation with 8″ screen, four electric windows, rear parking sensors and multifunction leather steering wheel.
The Selection equipment level builds on with alloy wheels, tailgate where the glass is extended down towards the number plate, automatic climate control, keyless operation, adaptive cruise control, reversing camera, electrically folding side mirrors and much more. The Selection edition can, among other things, can be equipped, at extra cost, with matrix LED headlights.

The Kamiq facelift starts at DKK 224,995.
Together with the sensible hatchback Scala, the facelifted Kamiq also lands in Denmark. The small crossover is smaller than the Scala – in length – but a very practical and spacious car compared to its class.
It has received a facelift with a new grill and headlights, which are now divided into three factions. The Kamiq is available with the same engines and trim levels as the Scala, and is now, for the first time, also available with matrix LED headlights. However, they are reserved for the Selection model and cost DKK 12,994.
The Kamiq trim levels are virtually identical to the Scala trim levels, so here too the base model can do just fine.
