Breaking news! Tom Coronel’s son made a big impression during a three-day selection in Spain and has been included in the prestigious junior program of Red Bull Racing.
The 13-year-old son of Formula 1 pit reporter and driver Tom Coronel is rewarded for his efforts in Spain and can follow in the footsteps of greats such as Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen. That also means the dubious honor for father Tom to follow in the footsteps of Jos the Boss.
In the deep
Rocco Coronel is successfully active in international karting and was allowed to step into a powerful formula car in Jerez de la Frontera in August. With that, the young driver jumped in at the deep end and it went so well that he now has a contract with Red Bull in his pocket.
Tom Coronel is of course as proud as a peacock and sees a great future for his son. Coronel senior sees his son growing up so fast and wonders if the teenager realizes how fast it is going.
Overjoyed Rocco Coronel
The driver himself is of course also very happy and very pleased that he can now drive with a Red Bull helmet. He looks up to the big boys who already drive with the Red Bull colors and now he is suddenly one of them.
Helmut Marko
The great Helmut Marko has himself interfered and personally brought the boy to Spain to drive laps in the Formula 4 car. Marko is the man with a nose for talent, so this is a nice big step for Coronel junior’s racing career.
We are curious how this will develop further! Perhaps he will soon be the new Dutch Formula 1 hero when Max calls it quits in 2028. We will see. In any case, we are looking forward to an always happy Tom Coronel, instead of an often somewhat complaining Jos Verstappen.
