Cadillac Optiq – a cheaper electric car for Europe

Cadillac has returned to Europe, but it is not enough to have a model over a million for it to “unwind” for the brand. Soon, the luxurious CLyriq will be complemented by the cheaper electric SUV Optiq.

The fact that the Cadillac Optiq is cheaper than the Lyriq does not mean that the car is cheap – it is, after all, a Cadillac. In the US, the Cadillac Optiq with four-wheel drive and 300 horsepower costs $54,000 – compared to $58,590 for big brother the Lyriq.

There are no Swedish prices or information about deliveries yet.

Large cargo volume and generous legroom

The Cadillac Optiq has dual electric motors that provide a system output of 300 horsepower. An 85 kWh battery provides an EPA range of 300 miles. The WLTP measurement probably lands at just over 50 miles. The charging power is up to 150 kW.

In the US, the towing weight is only 1500 pounds, equivalent to 680 kg. Let’s hope that the European type approval can add a few extra kilos. Legroom is said to be best in class.

The Cadillac Optiq is 483 cm long and has 15 cm of ground clearance. The cargo space is a whopping 736 liters and with the rear seat folded, 1,615 liters of luggage can be accommodated.
