Change of leadership at Audi: Marco Schubert takes over sales

For five years, Hildegard Wortmann was the first woman to head up sales at the Ingolstadt-based carmaker. Now she is making way for an old Audi employee.

(dpa/Car Whiz/KI) The Volkswagen subsidiary Audi has announced a new personnel decision: Marco Schubert, the current head of Porsche Europe, will be appointed as the new head of sales in Ingolstadt. Schubert will take over the position next Sunday from Hildegard Wortmann, who was appointed as head of sales in 2019. BMW moved to Audi and is now leaving the Volkswagen Group. Wortmann’s decision to leave the company was made at his own request and by mutual agreement, as Audi announced.

Marco Schubert brings with him extensive international experience, which, according to Audi Supervisory Board Chairman Manfred Döss, is particularly in demand in the current phase. Schubert previously worked for 20 years in various positions at Audi, including Head of Sales in China and Head of the Northern Europe Region. Since 2021, he has headed the Europe region at PorscheSchubert, who was born in Magdeburg, will also become a member of the extended management of Volkswagen in Wolfsburg.

Works council chairman Jörg Schlagbauer praised Wortmann’s achievements, who, as the first woman on the Audi board, had provided important impetus in sales. He expressed optimism about Marco Schubert’s return to Audi and future cooperation in modernizing sales. In a closing remark, Hildegard Wortmann emphasized the importance of people in the company: “In the end, it is always the people who make the difference.”
