Dacia Spring unveiled, electric car cheaper than hybrid compact SUV

Dacia unveiled the new Spring on the 21st (local time). The new Spring is a compact electric vehicle developed with the goal of having the lowest price in Europe. It is equipped with a 26.8kWh battery and can drive 220km based on WLTP when fully charged. Sales will begin in the UK in the second half of this year, and the price is approximately 30 million won.

The new Spring was developed with the goal of becoming the cheapest electric vehicle in Europe. The price of the new spring is set at less than 18,000 pounds (about 30 million won) in the UK. The new Spring is a compact SUV optimized for city driving. The new Spring will compete with the Citroen e-C3, Fiat Panda, and Renault Twingo.

The new spring is equipped with a 26.8kWh battery. When fully charged, it can drive more than 220km based on WLTP. The maximum output of the new spring electric motor is divided into 45 horsepower and 65 horsepower depending on the trim. Dacia explained that the average daily mileage of existing Spring customers is 37 km and the average speed is 37 km/h.

The new spring supports 30kW fast charging. A two-way charging function has been added to the new spring. The new spring body size is 3701mm in length, 1767mm in width, 1519mm in height, and 2423mm wheelbase. The new spring frunk capacity is 35 liters. The trunk capacity is 308 liters, which is 6 times more than before.

The trunk expands to 1004 liters when the second row of seats are folded. The empty weight of the new spring is only 984 kg. The exterior reflects Dacia’s latest design language. The interior features a 7-inch digital instrument panel, 10-inch display, and uniquely designed air vents. The latest driver assistance system has been newly applied.
