Dacia introduces a number of novelties in several models to meet new EU requirements. In addition, the cheap Spring electric car is updated with new technology.
The EU has introduced stricter safety requirements for new cars. The so-called GSR2 rules (General Safety Regulation) mean that new cars need to have certain technology installed as standard, for example lane keeping assistant and a so-called “black box” that saves the events that occur in the event of an accident.
The requirements also include Dacia, which is now significantly updating several of its models. This applies to Dacia Sandero, Sandero Stepway and Jogger.
The cars get lane keeping assistant, fatigue warning, rear parking sensors, autobrake that can detect pedestrians and cyclists and a black box as standard. The brake lights may also flash rapidly if the driver panics.
As in many other cars, some of the systems can be turned off, but they are reactivated when the car is started again. Whether the systems mean that prices are raised is unclear.
Dacia Spring has special adhesive sheets that can be placed on the bumpers to hide scratches and minor parking damage.
Dacia also takes the opportunity to update the budget electric car Spring, which is sold in Europe. The car still has a range of 22.5 miles, engine power of up to 65 hp and DC charging of up to 50 kW.
On the other hand, the design is redone with a new front and rear section to better fit into Dacia’s model range. The interior has also been redesigned to feel a little more luxurious. Digital instruments are now standard and there is a height-adjustable steering wheel.
Dacia Spring also gets V2L technology, which means that the car’s battery can share power with other gadgets with an output of 3.5 kW. It’s a feature that many more expensive electric cars lack.
Dacia’s Youclip solution means that the buyers supplement with, for example, cup holders or flashlights that are fastened in various places in the interior.
