Electric cars versus combustion engines: an industry at a turning point

New electric cars are finally triggering the “want-to-have” effect. From the Xiaomi SU7 to the Denza Z9 GT – the future is electric, despite the old love of combustion engines.

Torn back and forth. The Auto China in Beijing impressed me. Not so much the trade fair itself with its rush of visitors, the masses of influencers and local car manufacturers who were celebrated like pop stars – it could all be staged. It’s the products and the cars that impress me.

I still rarely have this “want-to-have” effect with electric cars, with the exception of this Tesla Cybertruck and des Hyundai Ioniq 5 N. But the Xiaomi SU7the Denza Z9 GT and other premieres piqued my interest; I would at least like to get to know her better. Attractive design, advanced technology and attractive prices, at least in China.

There is still too much fuel in the blood

My inner conflict is reflected in the Zeekr 001 FR and the Prodrive P25: New and old worlds meet. Digital high-tech electric car versus old-school combustion engine. Bold new versus tried and tested familiar. There’s still too much fuel flowing through my veins, but it’s literally starting to tingle. Something is developing with electric cars that I can slowly feel.

Let’s get back down to earth. Currently the money in this country is still made from combustion engines. There is a great demand for them. You are trusted. They awaken our emotions. But the future is electric.
