Far fewer diesel cars are put on sale

While electric cars continue to fall in price, the supply of diesel cars is also falling significantly.

It is moving outwards for the used car market, which is experiencing significantly greater activity than December last year. It is especially the petrol cars and the electric cars that pull the heavy load, while the diesel cars lag behind.

The electric cars continue to be reduced in price and last week over 1,000 electric cars were adjusted down in price. If you want an early Christmas present or just a new electric car, the prices and time are right now.

The diesel cars are lagging behind

Diesel cars are a dying breed, and the supply of long-distance cars is significantly decreasing.

In fact, the supply of diesel cars has fallen by 13% from October this year to now. At present, there are just over 15,500 diesel cars for sale, and that figure is expected to fall further in the coming period.

Demand for diesel cars is also falling, which is also reflected in the price. 10% of the diesel cars were reduced in price last week and this trend has been the case for the past three months.

The electric car price party continues

It is not only the diesel cars that fall in price. The trend, which has been present for large parts of the year, continues.

The electric cars are being reduced in price and last week over 1,000 electric cars were reduced. Where diesel cars are reduced in price due to lack of demand, the reason is different for electric cars.

Because the demand for electric cars is still very high, but rather than the prices being raised as a result of high demand, they are lowered, as the dealers can still bring the coveted cars home from the European market at favorable prices.

If the dealers can still bring the cars home at good prices, you as a consumer should not expect price increases in the near future. It is of course difficult to predict, but right now overall prices are falling.

Big price reductions

When the electric cars are then reduced in price, it is not just by a few thousand. Last week, a total of 1,052 electric cars were reduced by an average of DKK 13,377, which was roughly the same average as the week before.

The price index, which is based on Q4 2021, is for electric cars in November at 73.2%. This means that the electric cars in November were 26.8% cheaper than in Q4 2021.

In a historical perspective, electric cars have never been cheaper than they are now. Whether this trend will continue is hard to say. The dealers can, as mentioned, continue to bring cars home from the European market at favorable prices and therefore we can expect the price reductions to continue for a little while longer.
