First electric Ferrari will be ‘real’ (and really expensive)

The first electric Ferrari is going to be a real Ferrari. So very expensive, that’s part of it.

Almost all car brands have now switched to at least one electric moel in their line-up to a complete line-up next to their old-fashioned model line with combustion engines. Now it is the turn of the last few sports car manufacturers to follow suit.

The next one is Ferrari. They are now also coming with an electric car. There have been rumors about that for a while now. Of course we are very curious about the content of the concept of the Italians. There have been rumors for a while that Ferrari wants to add a certain form of experience and sound to their first electric car.

Unveiling already this year!

According to Ferrari boss Benedetto Vigna, Ferrari will reveal the car this year and delivery is planned for 2026. He reports this to the British Autocar, a quality publication. In the ‘E-Building’ building they are busy developing the car.

At the moment they are also testing the first electric Ferrari in and around Maranello. You won’t see any pictures of that on this page, simply because Ferrari has dropped a Maserati Levante-esque body on an EV platform. They also did that with the Purosangue.

It’s not entirely certain what the first electric Ferrari will be, but it seems to be some sort of slightly high crossover coupe sportback. Think of a nice heavily lowered BMW 6 Series GT. Of course, we’re hoping for an incarnation of the Ferrari FF.

Prize for first electric Ferrari

Then the price. That is also known. At least, there is an indication of 500,000 euros. We are curious how Ferrari will justify that price. A Model S Plaid costs about a quarter of that and will probably be faster. Yes, we know: the Ferrari will be more beautiful and have a nicer interior.

However, we see that electric cars above 100,000 euros are particularly difficult to sell and depreciate quickly. Porsche mainly sells a lot of the simpler Taycans, not the expensive Turbo models.

We’re curious. An electric crossover from Ferrari. That doesn’t necessarily have to be a disaster, but what’s wrong with a great coupe?

Very curious about the skills of this automaker. There must be more to make than a very strong electric motor and calling it a day. These kinds of EVs are actually the American V8 boxes: more power and then you don’t have to come up with a refined chassis anymore.

If Enzo had not had an ICE at his disposal at the time but an E engine, would he have made drivers’ cars just as good?
