The new Ford Explorer will be released next month. According to dealers, the new Explorer will be released as early as October, and the price will start at the early 60 million won range. It will be operated with the luxurious Platinum and the sporty ST Line trims. The Platinum is the top trim and is essentially a full package.
The new Explorer is a 6th generation partial change model. The new Explorer domestic lineup consists of the 6-seater ST line and the 7-seater Platinum. The price is expected to be in the early 60 million won range for the ST line and the late 60 million won range for the Platinum. In particular, the domestic price of the new Explorer Platinum has been set at a similar level to the US.
The new Explorer’s domestic powertrain is the 2.3 Ecoboost. The 2.3-liter 4-cylinder gasoline turbo engine and 10-speed automatic transmission are combined to produce a maximum output of 304 horsepower and a maximum torque of 42.9 kgm. Four-wheel drive is standard. The combined fuel efficiency is 8.7 km/ℓ (city 7.6, highway 10.4) based on the 20-inch wheel and 7-seater Platinum.
The new Explorer Platinum comes standard with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 13.2-inch display, heated and ventilated front and rear power seats, heated second-row seats, Ford Co-Pilot 360 Assist 2.0 with adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist, a Class III trailering package, and wireless smartphone charging.
It also offers 3-zone air conditioning, 2nd-row sunblinds, 360-degree surround view, multi-contour 1st-row seats with active motion massage function, adaptive LED headlamps, 1st-row center console armrest leather cover, ambient lamps, 2nd-row captain’s seat, front/rear parking assist sensors, and illuminated door sill plates.
The new Explorer ST Line is the first trim to be introduced in Korea. The new Explorer ST Line is a design package for Ford’s high-performance models, and includes an ST-exclusive front grille, wheels, seats with a combination of ebony leather and fabric, and a vapor blue exterior color. However, some options, such as the first-row ventilated seats, are omitted.
