Forget the M5: The REAL sports sedan just got better

Will the real sports sedan please stand up?

The BMW M5 was the star of its class for a long time. At least, that was the consensus among the car journalists, experts, farmers, citizens, gentlemen and country folk. In most cases we refer to codes such as E28, E34, E39 and E60. The current model – the recently introduced G90 – looks very fat, but is that also the case?

The thing weighs two and a half tons clean on the hook. That is simply too much to be allowed to carry the predicate sports sedan. Now we are of course very curious about how it drives, because perhaps the engineers have found something to circumvent the laws of nature.

Precision Package

Instead of waiting for the M5, you can also bring this real sports sedan to the Netherlands in a gray way. The Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing. That was already a great car and this one is now even better. It is still a real sports sedan: so a huge V8 in the front, a manual transmission and rear-wheel drive. Exactly like the E39. Only the CT5-V has more displacement (6.2 liters!) and a whopper of a supercharger on it.

The CT5-V has become even better for 2025. Cadillac does this by means of the ‘Precision Package’. This is not a Doktor Bibberset for GNK students, but it ensures that the Cadillac drives better. For example, the springs are slightly stiffer and the rubbers are less spongy. At the front there is a thicker anti-roll bar.

Highlight real sports sedan

The steering system has also been modified and parts of the suspension are different. According to Cadillac, the CT5-V with Precision Package is better tuned for better track work. The highlight of the Precision Package is therefore the ceramic brake discs.

The CT5-V can now be steered more precisely with the package. Exiting a corner is also better now. At least, faster. You can get on the gas sooner because the car is a bit more stable.

The engine is still identical to the regular CT5-V Blackwing. So a 6.2 liter V8 that squeezes out 668 hp and 893 Nm. In addition to the manual transmission, you can also opt for a ten-speed automatic.

Cadillac will start production early next year. Prices are not known, but in the US the regular CT5-V Blackwing already costs 94,980 dollars. Expect a hefty CO2 fine if you want to put this on yellow plates. But hey, then you have the ultimate sports sedan!

Only afraid that the depreciation here in Europe will be mega disastrous, otherwise I see few obstacles.

    Not even 95K€ for a mud-thick V8. You won’t even get a civilian R for that.
