Genesis G80 Confident? More Expensive Than 5 Series in US

Genesis America announced the pricing of the G80 facelift on the 18th (local time). The G80 facelift has been enhanced with exterior and interior details based on the existing design with a high level of perfection. The G80 facelift US price starts at $58,350 (about 79 million won), and some trims are priced more expensive than the BMW 5 Series.

The new G80 US model is different from the domestic model in that it comes with all-wheel drive as standard, and the 3.5 turbo is only sold in the sport trim. The US price of the new G80 starts at $58,350 (about 79 million won) for the 2.5 turbo and $78,500 (about 95 million won) for the 3.5 turbo. The top trim, the 3.5 turbo Prestige, is priced at $78,250 (about 105 million won).

The new G80 2.5 turbo is priced relatively cheaper than its competitors, the BMW 5 Series 530i and the Mercedes-Benz E-Class E350. On the other hand, the 3.5 turbo is priced $5,650 (about 7.6 million won) more expensive than the 540i xDrive and the same as the E450 4MATIC. In terms of domestic prices, the new G80 is relatively cheaper than the 5 Series and E-Class.

The new G80 US specs are the same as the domestic ones. It comes standard with a 27-inch OLED display with integrated digital instrument panel and display, a new steering wheel, leather seats, 2-zone air conditioning, fingerprint authentication, smart cruise control, highway driving assist, lane keeping assist, high beam assist, and 1st row ventilated seats.

The new G80 2.5 Turbo and 3.5 Turbo are paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and produce maximum outputs of 304 horsepower and 380 horsepower, respectively. The new G80 has improved overall ride quality by making frequency-sensitive shock absorbers standard. The sports trim offers rear-wheel steering, sports+ mode, and an electronic limited-slip differential.
