Hyundai Kona Electric: Used car market

The first generation of the fully electric compact SUV Hyundai Kona is currently available on the used car market at fair prices.

The falling sales figures speak for themselves: electric vehicles are no longer in such demand as they were a year ago. But this is often only due to the price. So if you would like to drive a battery-electric vehicle but want to avoid the expensive new car prices, all you have to do is look at the used cars. There are numerous offers here, such as the Hyundai Kona Electric.

One reason why the search for a used Kona with electric motor is worth it, is the wide range on offer. The first generation of the Kona Electric, sold until 2023, was offered in two power levels with 100 kW and 150 kW. The model is therefore suitable both for electric beginners with predominantly short distances and for frequent drivers – you just have to choose the right version. Of the more than 1,300 examples of the first Kona generation, over 700 used ones are fully electric. If you then look for a barely used SUV with less than 20,000 kilometers on the clock, there are still around 220 models left.

Kona with two ranges

The biggest difference between the two versions of the Kona Electric is the performance and the capacity of the built-in battery pack. While the top model with an output of 150 kW and a 64 kWh battery is particularly suitable for long-distance use (WLTP range: 484 km), the 100 kW Kona with a maximum WLTP range of 305 km should easily be sufficient for the daily commute.

Numerous amenities await the new owner in the interior of the used electric Kona.

Newcomers to e-mobility in particular, who want to drive the Kona Electric on short journeys in everyday life, can save a lot of money by opting for the weaker version. As with this used car, which is for sale at the Schläfer car dealership in Bürstadt, Hesse. The first-hand electric car was first registered in June 2021 and has driven just 16,319 kilometers since then. The five-year manufacturer’s warranty is valid until 100,000 km or June 2026.

The Kona Electric cannot quite keep up with the luxury of the latest vehicles. However, the high level of equipment ensures that the new owner will not miss anything on board the Korean car. In addition to heated seats, a navigation system and a rear-view camera, the used car offered here also has an electric glass sunroof.

The question remains whether the purchase price is just as attractive as the other basic data. While the Kona Electric with Trend Package cost around 39,000 euros when ordered, the provider is currently asking for just under half that price. For just 20,480 euros, you can quickly and cheaply switch from a combustion engine to a fully electric compact SUV.
