Kia EV3 development virtually complete, Niro EV replacement

Kia Europe announced on the 29th that it plans to unveil the EV3 on June 21 (European time). EV3 is an E-GMP-based small electric SUV with a driving range of 500km based on WLTP when fully charged. EV3 is an entry-level model that represents Kia’s plan to lead the popularization of electric vehicles. It will be released in Korea in the third quarter.

EV3 is an E-GMP-based compact SUV that takes the lead in popularizing and universalizing electric vehicles. EV3 is a long-term replacement for Kia Niro EV and Soul EV. EV3, unlike existing E-GMP-based electric vehicles, is equipped with a 400V voltage system. The target driving distance for one full charge is 500km based on WLTP.

The EV3 is equipped with a next-generation front-wheel drive single motor and produces a maximum output of 217 horsepower. It takes more than 20 minutes to charge the battery from 10->80%. The manufacturer explains that the EV3 has completed rigorous testing in various environments in Germany and northern continental Europe. The EV3 exterior is similar to the concept car.

The front of the EV3 is equipped with vertically arranged headlamps and sleekly designed Star Map signature daytime running lights. The second-row door handle is a hidden type. The side part of the EV3 emphasizes sportiness, such as the angled A-pillar, windshield, and floating roof style. Starmap signature rear lamps are installed.

EV3 is the first Kia company to expand recycled plastics to all exterior plastic molding parts, including bumper covers, radiator upper covers, fenders, and door garnishes. The total amount of recycled plastic parts used in EV3 is 28.5 kg. EV3 is equipped with generative AI technology, improved voice recognition, and FoD functions.
