Lexus NX 450h+ becomes 12 grand cheaper in one fell swoop

Are you about to buy a Lexus NX? Then we have good news. Did you just buy one? Then not.

Major price cuts are not an unknown phenomenon these days, especially in the tumultuous EV market. This morning we wrote about the electric Lexus RZ, which will be several thousand euros cheaper. However, Lexus is not just lowering the prices of their electric model.

The NX will also be considerably cheaper, Lexus reports. Where last year you had to pay €73,995 for the entry-level version, that will now be the case €64,995. The NX therefore becomes €9,000 cheaper in one fell swoop. For the more expensive versions, the difference is even greater: the NX 450h+ (the PHEV) is even €12,000 cheaper.

While the entry-level Lexus RZ (the one from this morning) comes with fabric upholstery and manually adjustable seats, the entry-level version of the NX offers you everything you need. Artificial leather, electrically adjustable seats, front seat heating, 18-inch alloy wheels: it’s all there.

Price comparison

For the price comparison, we will not take the entry-level car, but the plug-in hybrid (i.e. the NX 450h+). Relatively speaking, this is the best deal and this is also the variant that has dropped the most in price. The Lexus NX 450h+ is also an old acquaintance, because we had it in the Car Whiz Garage as an endurance tester.

These are the main rivals of the Lexus NX 450h+:

  • Volvo XC60 T6 AWD (350 hp): €59,995
  • BMW X3 xDrive30e (292 hp): €67,375
  • Lexus NX 450h+ (309 hp): €70,995
  • Audi Q5 50 TFSI e (299 hp): €71,190
  • Mercedes GLC 300 e (313 hp): €74,941

You would expect that the Lexus NX would immediately be the cheapest of the bunch with such a significant price reduction, but that is not the case. It was expected that the Volvo is cheaper, but the BMW X3 is also cheaper. We must say that the NX 450h+ is supplied as a Luxury Line as standard and is very well equipped. Seen in that light, the Lexus is not a bad deal compared to the German competition.

Toyota must end the importership of Toyota and Lexus at Louwman, these types of actions are ridiculous and bad for the Lexus brand and no more will be sold. Lexus is not a priority at all for Louwman, 0.0…… .

We have an ES, conscious choice, great car and also great dealer, who complains about Louwman…

There are not many Lexus dealers left that are not part of the Louwman group. I am a customer of one of those Louwman dealers, but I wonder for how long. Lexus always prided itself on excellent red carpet service, but I no longer experience it that way at “my” Louwman dealer… Both at the workshop and now also at the sales department. And with these kinds of price reductions, I don’t think Lexus is making itself popular with existing customers who have only recently paid for such a thing. I don’t think there are many in the lease, I think Lexus is a brand that mainly relies on private individuals…

To be very honest, I don’t think Lexus really cares about the customer experience of a handful of Dutch people at Louwman. North America and Asia are much more important for Lexus and, apart from the CT200h, they have never had a lease topper here. They now have some smaller models that still sell reasonably well here, but there was a time (especially the RX) when I thought that Lexus would suffer the same fate as Infinity.

I have a Lexus myself and I also go to Louwman because that is the only option in the area. Fortunately, no bad experience yet, but I have only been there for a short time. However, it is still worth making the effort because of the warranty extensions of up to 10 years.
