Mercedes-Benz CLE Coupe Hybrid unveiled, 313 horsepower eco-friendly sports car

Mercedes-Benz unveiled the CLE 300e Coupe on the 3rd (European time). The CLE 300e Coupe is the brand’s first plug-in hybrid (PHEV) coupe, combining a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder gasoline turbo engine and a PHEV system to produce a combined total output of 313 horsepower. Various specifications are basic. Sales began in Germany.

The CLE Coupe is Mercedes-Benz’s new two-door that combines the concept and technology of the C-Class and E-Class. The CLE 300e Coupe is the brand’s first PHEV coupe. The CLE 300e Coupe combines a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder gasoline turbo engine, a 9-speed automatic transmission, an electric motor integrated with the transmission, and a 19.53kWh lithium-ion battery.

The CLE 300e Coupe has a combined total output of 313 horsepower. It takes 6.3 seconds to accelerate from a standstill to 100 km/h. Acceleration performance is 1.1 seconds faster than the CLE 200 Coupe and 1.9 seconds slower than the 450 4MATIC. The top speed of the CLE 300e Coupe is 236 km/h. The CLE 300e Coupe is rear-wheel drive.

The CLE 300e Coupe can drive up to 112km based on WLTP in EV mode when the battery is fully charged. The fuel tank capacity is 50 liters, which is less than that of the regular model. The battery was placed at the bottom of the trunk. It detects entering the city center, automatically switches to EV mode, and supports regenerative braking. 19-inch wheels are standard.

The exterior and interior of the CLE 300e Coupe are the same as those of a regular internal combustion engine. The only difference is the addition of a charging port to the exterior. The CLE 300e Coupe is equipped with the latest ADAS such as sports seats with integrated headrests, first-row ventilated and heated seats, adaptive cruise control, digital lights, and 360-degree surround view as standard.
