More and more motorists are avoiding traffic jams with this trick

The secret to avoiding traffic jams? Logical thinking.

And a little flexibility from the employer. The most impressive tricks of Hans Klok in Las Vegas can have the simplest explanation. It is the same with avoiding traffic jams. More and more motorists have figured out how to no longer queue at the back of the highway in the morning.

The secret? Leave later! Yes, this cliché sounds incredibly logical. Yet more and more people are doing it, which is reducing the traffic jams to the traditional times. Now we shouldn’t all pretend that we’ve reinvented the wheel. Otherwise, working Dutch people will be stuck in traffic at 10:00 and the rest can drive straight through at 08:00.

According to a report on Nu.nl, more and more workers are choosing to work from home for a while first. After the traditional rush hour, they then get in the car to the office. Tuesday and Thursday are still the most popular office days and therefore the busiest days on the Dutch roads. It can be busy on the roads anyway, with all those roadworks in 2024.

Since Covid, working from home has become an important part of office life. Working from home completely is too much for many people. Employers also still like to see their staff come to the office. By combining this a bit flexibly, you as an employee can prevent wasting valuable time on traffic jams.

According to the ANWB, the Friday morning rush hour is still quieter than before corona. However, it is noted that traffic jams have formed around 11 am. This is because recreational traffic has started earlier.

Complete flexibility of employer and employee is the golden rule here. By first looking from home and keeping an eye on the traffic situation, you can decide for yourself when you go to the office. For the time being, this only has an advantage on the way there.

Back home still traffic jams

On the way back, Dutch office workers are stuck in the traditional traffic jam. If that same employer doesn’t want you to leave earlier because you arrived late, the evening rush hour remains the same. Maybe we should introduce the Spanish model for that: no stamppot at 17:30, but just eat a bit later in the evening. Perfect!
