We look at the EVs that were imported the most in August and the EVs that appeared on the road for the first time.
In August, over 55,000 passenger cars were provided with a new license plate by the RDW. EVs were responsible for almost 12,000 copies and in almost 90% of those, it concerned completely new copies. Including three models that we have not seen on Dutch license plates before.
Audi Q6 e-tron Performance
Let’s go back to the month of July, when we first saw the Audi Q6 e-tron appear on yellow plates. It was four units of the top model, the 490 hp SQ6, plus another 59 units of the Q6 Quattro type, with 388 hp.
In August, a third version appeared on the license plate, the Audi Q6 Performance. You would expect more ‘performance’, but then you would be a bit disappointed. The power is ‘only’ 306 hp, the name refers to a higher range: up to 641 km, while the Quattro comes to 625 and the SQ6 to 589 km.
Citroën ë-C3
For a new electric car under €25,000 you have to search hard. You often don’t get further than the Dacia Spring or maybe the Smart Fortwo. Citroën saw a good opportunity here and introduced the ë-C3, a small but comfortable car in the B-segment.
The very first ë-C3 has now appeared on Dutch license plates. A red example with 113 hp and a registered catalogue price of € 28,980, which means it is probably the ë-C3 Max version.
Cupra Born VZ
There are now more than 6,350 copies of the Cupra Born on Dutch registration plates. In August, however, we saw a new model (or ‘trade name’) appear in the RDW register, the ‘Born 240 kW 79/84 kWh’.
Of course, we are talking about the new top model, the Born VZ, with 240 kW power (326 HP) and a battery with a capacity of 84 kWh gross and 79 kWh net. Enough power to be nice and ‘veloz’, nice and fast. Does this car appeal to you? Then take another look at our test and video (https://www.autoblog.nl/nieuws/cupra-born-vz-test-en-video-6898797).
Most favorite models to import
It is not only completely new EVs that are being registered, but the share of ‘import’ is also increasing. In August, this involved almost 1,300 EVs that were previously registered abroad and have now been provided with a Dutch license plate by the RDW.
The share of the Fiat 500e. Although this model is still available new, only 43 completely new units were registered, compared to 141 from the import. And no, this hardly concerns the first generation of the 500e that was actually only available in California and Oregon and came to the Netherlands relatively often via the import.
