New Fiat Panda ruins Renault 5 party

The new Fiat panda is coming to spoil today’s Renault 5 party.

The Geneva Salon should be the party of the Renault 5. As you know, there is not a lot of news at the 2024 Geneva Salon (or car brands in general), but that Renault 5 should be the star of the show. We have seen countless leaked photos and even more different concepts to get an idea of what we will soon see: an electric car with styling inspired by an icon from the 80s. It’s a bit like the youth who are currently rediscovering Fleetwood Mac, Kate Bush and The Cult.

Well, before Renault can start the party, Fiat ruins it for them. They’re not at the Geneva Salon, are they? That’s right! They are not there.

The Italian specialist in small cars does share a new interpretation of the legendary Fiat Panda. Or better said, 5 new interpretations!

New Fiat Panda

These 5 cars are on one platform (Stellantis Smart Car platform on which the Citroën ë-C3 is also on) and should develop into production models in the coming years. We can now see this as a concept in a Fiat video (also shown at the bottom of this article). The intention is that one of these concepts will see the light of day every year.

The first one we see is an electric car that is slightly larger than the current Panda as we know it now. The Panda will eventually – just like the ë-C3 – become a crossover-like thing. The thing must resemble Fiat’s gigantic Lingotto building in Turin. You know, that building with the test track on the roof.

Of course you all think that this cool little car is electric and that is not true. The car will be available as an EV, but also with a combustion engine. Fiat wants to be able to sell the car everywhere in the world, not just in Reeuwijk, Abcoude and Almere-Haven.

Then there’s a pickup. That seems like a strange choice, but don’t forget that there are areas on this planet where the Fiat Strada cannot be reached. This model is particularly popular in South America.

Then there is a Panda Fastback Concept, which should fill the market segment of the Fiat Tipo. The Tipo is no longer available on the Dutch market.

Then there is also a ‘Giga-Panda’. This is clearly a competitor for the Dacia Duster. An affordable yet sturdy crossover for the whole family.

Oh, and then there’s also a camper. Because why not?

As you can imagine, all of these cars are still very much in the concept stage. The first to see the light of day will probably be the Panda successor. After that small car, the rest of these models will follow. Fiat seems to be choosing a similar strategy as Land Rover. You also have model lines there based on a model. The Discovery, Range Rover and Defender. At Fiat you have the trendy 500 on the one hand and the cool Panda lines on the other.
