The quite expensive Polestar 3 will simply be 10,000 euros cheaper and will also have more driving range. Sounds interesting.

We have a bit of mixed feelings about Polestar. The recipe was correct. You first please the petrolheads with a production version of the bloody Volvo Concept Coupé, the Polestar 1. Then you tackle Tesla’s hottest model, the Model 3, with the Polestar 2. And then… not so a lot of.

Polestar 3 and 4

Cars have been presented, namely the Polestar 3, a large SUV, the Polestar 4, a kind of crossover in the 2 segment and the Polestar 5 is also coming soon, which will be a voluptuous sedan. To make it a bit confusing: the numbers represent the order of presentation, but as it now appears, the 4 will come onto the market earlier than the 3. It also doesn’t help that the Polestar 2 has lost a bit of its momentum and Polestar has lost some of its momentum in terms of sales. is sinking in. To top it all off, Volvo dumped their shares in the brand and ‘is in danger of financial collapse’ now that Polestar is listed on the stock exchange.

What doesn’t help: the Polestar 2 is actually the only price-packer you can get from the brand. The Polestar 4 is a serious slam dunk more expensive and the price of the Polestar 3 is actually completely ridiculous. That one started at 89,990 euros. A Performance Pack makes that price rise to almost 94,000 euros, without options. Can it be done differently? Yes.

Polestar 3 RWD

You could only get the 3 with AWD and 489 hp or 517 hp (Performance). The basic Long Range Single Motor version has now been added. Rear wheel drive only! However, you do give up a lot of horsepower: you get 299 units. The torque is just under half to 490 Nm and from 0 to 100 takes 7.8 seconds, instead of the 5 and 4.7 of the thicker versions.

And that for a little less money: 79,950 euros. Although we must say that there are two more asterisks. Firstly, the price difference of 10,000 euros is only relevant compared to the Launch Edition, which appears first. The ‘normal’ Dual Motor costs 86,950 euros. Moreover, the LE will be available in October, the Dual Motor in October-November and the Single Motor only in February 2025. So if you want to get started with the Polestar 3 earlier, you will have to pay extra.

However, every version can now be ordered and with the Polestar 3 Single Motor the lease price also drops below 1,000 euros per month, which is 999 euros.

    I already wanted it and luckily it is now on its way. But from model year 25 onwards it is really expensive. BMW iX is also nice, but this one is a lot nicer and has a greater range than the xdrive40.

      BMW iX ‘beautiful’? Phew, quite a bold statement, ‘pompous’ seems a more appropriate qualification to me.

    I don’t understand those high prices. All their interiors look alike. A gribus touch screen tablet in the middle, and you’re done. Extreme cost cutting and design poverty.

      Polestar designs can be called nice, not a dime a dozen Chinese as far as I’m concerned. Now price the Polestar 4 a bit more decently if it is technically no more than a Volvo EX30 with an extra large battery
