Porsche also joins the latest supercar trend

Porsche is following the trend with this ultra-exclusive Taycan.

McLaren is a true trendsetter. It was the MSO department of McLaren that started it and then we saw it at Lamborghini and Ferrari. And now for the first time at Porsche.

What are we talking about? Gradient paint! This is all the rage among supercar owners who find one color not striking enough. Such paint is difficult to spray, so for now we only see this in the highest segment.

Porsche’s Sonderwunsch department has now also been tempted to apply such an effect. The result is the Taycan Turbo S Celestial Jade, a one-off version. This car is painted in a color transition from Shifting Carbon to Urban Bamboo.

What makes this paint extra special is the fact that these are not regular paint colors, but Chromaflair colors. We have seen this before at Porsche: colors that change depending on the angle. Urban Bamboo goes from green to yellow and gold, while Shifting Carbon goes from dark gray to black and blue. These are colors that do not come into their own in photos.

Of course, it should also be mentioned how much time was put into this varnish. The varnish was applied by hand, which took about 80 man hours. In addition, the development of this varnish took a year. So you don’t want to know what this varnish costs.

To emphasize that the Taycan Turbo S Celestial Jade is a unique car, it has also been given a special logo. This is supposed to represent a horse with the head of a dragon. You may not know it, but Taycan is derived from the Turkish word for ‘young horse’. The dragon refers to the Chinese year of the dragon.

This Taycan is not for China, however, because the steering wheel is on the left. The car is intended for Southeast Asia. A buyer has yet to be found, because the Sonderwunsch department did not work on a customer’s request this time.

The Taycan Celestial Jade will first be exhibited in various locations and then auctioned for charity in 2025. This could well become the most expensive Taycan in the world.
