Recall from auto parts supplier Meyle: enormous risk of accidents

Attention, recall! Merle warns of a risky car part with a material defect that could cause accidents in two different models. The workshop must be visited.

Cars are recalled for a variety of reasons. What they all have in common is that manufacturers can no longer guarantee the safe use of the vehicles. The danger posed by the defect depends on the specific defect. As recently as mid-June 2024, for example, Volvo recalled its EX30 electric SUV because the speedometer could fail due to a software error. An annoying bug, but one that is hardly life-threatening. The situation is very different in the case of a current recall by vehicle parts supplier Meyle.

Material defect in wheel hub

As the website Produktwarnung.eu reports, the company is recalling a potentially defective wheel hub with the model number 514 752 001. This can be installed as a spare part in both the Ford Focus III and the Volvo V40 II and is susceptible to serious failures due to a material defect. Specifically, according to Meyle, this can cause the rear wheel to come loose from the vehicle.

This can lead to maximum loss of control and devastating accidents while driving. Meyle therefore appeals to all owners of a corresponding vehicle in which the wheel hub has already been replaced to check the number on the component and, if necessary, take the car to a workshop immediately.

Stop driving affected vehicles

You should not move the vehicle yourself. Instead, Meyle asks you to hire a towing service as a precaution. The company will cover the costs involved. This also applies to all other expenses you incur as a result of the recall.

The respective workshop will be responsible for exchanging and returning the defective part. Under no circumstances should you carry out the exchange yourself. If you are affected by the recall, please contact Meyle customer service using the recall code 410001674. You can reach them either via the contact form, by email at technicalservice(at)meyle.com or by phone at (+4940)675067950.
