Renault Korea Aurora 1 unveiling imminent, what new car will attract attention at the Busan Motor Show?

The 2024 Busan Mobility Show will be held at BEXCO in Busan from the 28th to July 7, starting with press day on June 27th. The 2024 Busan Mobility Show will feature a variety of new cars, including Renault Korea Aurora 1 (project name), Hyundai Motor Company’s Casper Electric, and BMW’s new M4 and iX2. We looked at the first public model in Korea.

Renue Korea unveils Aurora 1. Aurora 1 is a mid-sized hybrid SUV that competes with Hyundai Motor Company’s Santa Fe and Kia Sorento. Aurora 1 shares its platform with Gilisa’s Xingyu L. Safety has been strengthened by standardizing the latest ADAS system based on the CMA platform jointly developed by Volvo and Geely.

Aurora 1 has improved front and rear design and interior specifications compared to Xingyu L. The body size based on Xingyu L is 4770mm in length, 1895mm in width, and 2845mm in wheelbase, which is slightly smaller than the Santa Fe and Sorento, but the wheelbase is longer. Gasoline introduction is also planned after the 1.5 gasoline turbo hybrid.

Hyundai Motor Company introduces Casper Electric. Casper Electric is Casper’s electrified model and aims to lead the popularization of electric vehicles. Casper Electric can drive up to 315km with a 49kWh battery, and its single electric motor produces a maximum output of 115 horsepower. Casper Electric’s curb weight is 1335kg.

The Casper Electric is a passenger car, not a compact car, and its overall length and wheelbase are expected to be longer than those of an internal combustion engine. Casper Electric inherits the solid silhouette of the basic model, but is differentiated from the internal combustion engine specifications such as turn signals and daytime running lights with pixel graphics, a digital instrument panel, and a column-type gear lever.

Genesis exhibits partial changes to the G80 EV. The partial change to the G80 EV has a wheelbase of 3140mm, which is 130mm longer than before, with second-row space at the level of the G90 and various second-row convenience features added. Representative examples include electric reclining independent seats, ergo motion seats, electric window curtains, and door close buttons.

Compared to the existing model, the new G80 EV improved driving vibration and reduced indoor noise, ensuring high riding comfort and quietness. In particular, product competitiveness has been strengthened by installing a 4th generation battery, increasing the driving distance when fully charged. The new G80 EV specifications, battery capacity, and driving range will be revealed at the time of launch.

Kia unveils Tasman. However, it is not a world premiere as it is a dedicated camouflage model. Tasman is a body-on-frame midsize pickup truck that will be sequentially launched in Korea and Australia in 2025. The exterior of the Tasman embodies an authentic pickup style with an angular silhouette and reflects a completely new design language.

BMW Korea introduces partial changes to the M4 and the iX2. The partial change to the M4 emphasized the presence of the front with new headlamps with 3D lighting graphics, and a new steering wheel and curved display were placed inside. The 3.0-liter 6-cylinder engine has a maximum output of 530 horsepower, 20 horsepower more than before.

iX2 is an electric vehicle based on the X2 full change. Pre-orders are currently in progress, and prices range from 67.5 to 69.9 million won. The official launch is scheduled for the second half of this year. The iX2 is equipped with a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 64.7kWh and can drive up to 350km according to the Ministry of Environment when fully charged. It operates with single motors and dual motors.
