Renault Symbios unveiled, a hybrid SUV larger than the Captur

Renault unveiled Symbioz on the 2nd (local time). The Symbioz is a mid-sized SUV located between the Renault Captur and Austral and operates with a full hybrid single powertrain based on a 1.6-liter gasoline engine. Its strengths are the trunk space and various interior storage spaces. It is scheduled for a global release in July.

Symbioz is a compact SUV based on the Renault CMF-B platform. The overall length of the Symbioz is 4413mm, which is larger than the Renault Captur and smaller than the next-generation mid-size SUV Austral. Symbioz operates with a full-hybrid single powertrain based on a 1.6-liter gasoline engine. It is the same as the existing XM3, Arcana Hybrid.

The combination of a 1.6-liter 4-cylinder gasoline engine, 2 electric motors, a 1.2kWh battery, and a clutchless multi-mode gearbox consisting of 2 electric motors and 4-speed engine shifting provides a total output of 145 horsepower. The exterior of the Symbioz reflects Renault’s latest family look, including commendation-shaped daytime running lights and sleek headlamps.

Even though Symbioz is a mid-size SUV, it provides a trunk capacity comparable to that of a mid-size SUV. The basic trunk capacity of the Symbioz is 492 liters, which expands to a maximum of 624 liters when the second row of seats is slid. When the 2nd row seats are folded, the capacity is 1582 liters. There is a total of 24.7 liters of storage space inside. The glove box is 7 liters.

The Symbioz’s standard 10.4-inch vertical display has a built-in Google-based infotainment system. Symbioz is equipped with the latest driver assistance system consisting of a total of 24 devices. A digital instrument panel and a Solarbay roof with adjustable transparency are provided. The curb weight is 1500kg.
