The electric sports car is winter tested in Sweden

In June this year, the Renault 5-based Alpine A290 – Alpine’s sporty and fully electric five-seater hatchback – will be presented. The inside offers F1 inspiration.

As part of its extensive development and fine-tuning program, the upcoming A290 has been put to the test in extreme weather conditions in northern Sweden, in temperatures below -30 °C.

In addition to fine-tuning, equipment for heating, defrosting and electronic stability control (ESC) on snow is also evaluated.

The car you see in the pictures is dressed in Alpine camouflage on the outside, while the inside reveals a sports steering wheel in nappa leather with Formula 1-inspired buttons from the Alpine team’s Formula 1 car, the A524.

The buttons control the functions OV, RCH and Drive – i.e. Overtake, Recharge and Drive, the latter of which is a driving mode selector.

In addition to this, Michelin has developed three high-performance tires for the Alpine A290 – the Michelin Pilot Alpin 5, the energy-efficient Michelin Pilot Sport EV and the performance tire Michelin Pilot Sport S5.

And the dimensions of the car? Thank you for asking. The length will be 3,990 mm, the width 1,820 mm and the height 1,520 mm, with a wheelbase of 2,530 mm.
