A coupe with manual transmission and RWD? We’ll do that! And it’s still in the Netherlands!

We are badge obsessives, all of us. It’s just like that. We live in a separate reality where everything German and premium is completely normal. Everything that isn’t, is an inferior car. For every question in the Car Whiz Advice section, we can recommend 4 premium Germans. If the budget isn’t sufficient, we can still look for older models with even more mileage. People almost always ask for German and premium.

But do you want that? German cars are not known for their reliability (on the contrary) and are expensive to keep running. Because what do we really want? Well, a reliable rear-wheel drive coupe with a manual transmission for not too much money. Is that possible?

Well, you can! In the Netherlands, there is one for sale! And no, it is not a BMW 325i manual transmission, but the South Korean equivalent. The car in question is this Hyundai Genesis Coupé 2.0T.

The Genesis Coupé was a competitor for the BMW 3 Series, Audi A5 and Infiniti G35 on the one hand and the Ford Mustang on the other. The version that we sometimes see is the 3.8 V6, with 303 hp. But there was also a very sensible four-cylinder.

This one always has a manual six-speed gearbox. With 213 hp and 302 Nm you have little to complain about. It is not a racing monster, but with a chip you can certainly go a long way.

By the way: we are being too dismissive about 213 hp: that is just fine for a 1,470 kg four-seater. Yup, a low weight also works wonders. In Europe, the Genesis Coupe has hardly sold. Every now and then you come across one. For someone who had a 350Z and suddenly had a pregnant girlfriend.

Showroom car

The car in this case did not belong to such a person. No, this Genesis Coupé was a showroom car from a Hyundai dealer. The car was registered and sold in 2022. But the customer probably found it too scary to drive it. Because the car is now being sold on consignment. The mileage is now 1,082. Not even 1,100 km! That is simply new!

Normally, those cars are really expensive (we’re not going to say expensive again). So expensive that you don’t want to drive it yourself. In this case, it’s a bit different, because 20,000 euros for a nearly new car that’s 13 years old is not bad in itself. Oh well, the interior is not very high-quality, but just fine. If you have a coupe with a manual transmission and rear-wheel drive, you won’t have a hard time.

A normal 2.0T normally does between 11-14 thousand at the moment, but then there is a ton or one and a half on the counter. That is not the case in this case. Interested? You can view the ad here!

  1. breakdown road say

Car is from 02-2011. Imported in 08-2022 with 1,021 km, directly in private name. He had the car in his name for 29 days and then advertised it for € 23,400.

Then 195 days in a company stock and advertised for € 23,400, – with still 1,021 km.. And now another 475 days in another company stock that has been advertising for € 19,950, – since 04-2023.

    I think it’s a strange story.
