Upgrade and new model variant

Hyundai Ioniq 5 N Line

Hyundai Ioniq 5:

Hyundai upgrades the Ioniq 5 with new features and increased range. In addition, a sporty N Line variant is being launched.

The upgraded Ioniq 5 gets an increased battery capacity from 77.4 kWh to 84.0 kWh. This indicates an increased range of around ten percent, without the manufacturer providing details.

Exterior updates include redesigned front and rear bumpers. As a result, the car’s length increases by 20 mm to 4,655 mm, while the other external dimensions – width of 1,890 mm, height of 1,605 mm and wheelbase of 3,000 mm – remain unchanged.

To further enhance the IONIQ 5’s dynamic appearance and improve its aerodynamic performance, the rear spoiler has been extended by 50 mm, and the car also gets new aerodynamic wheels.

Buttons for important functions

The interior gets improved user-friendliness and convenience. In the center console, the upper part now has physical buttons that can operate the most used functions, such as heated and ventilated seats, heated steering wheel and parking assistant function. Hurray! Also, the smartphone’s wireless charging pad has been moved from the lower part to the upper part.

Furthermore, there is a new steering wheel design with interactive pixel lights, and the arrangement of infotainment and air conditioning has been changed to improve operating comfort.

Upgraded infotainment

To improve the overall experience and ease of use, the manufacturer has implemented the next generation infotainment system, called Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC). The Ioniq 5 is also equipped with wireless Over-The-Air (OTA) software updates to ensure the car has the latest updates.

Furthermore, Hyundai Motor introduces several new safety and comfort functions. These include Hands-On Detection (HOD) steering wheel, Lane Keeping Assist 2, Remote Smart Parking Assist 2 (RSPA 2), and Forward/Side/Reverse Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist (PCA-F/S/R). All these functions contribute to a safer and more practical driving experience.

To further enhance the experience, the car gets several new features, including LED Matrix Lights (IFS), Digital Key 2, Built-In Cam 2 and the ability to fold down the rear seats from the boot.

Better noise reduction

Other measures have been taken to further increase safety and driving comfort compared to previous models.

The new Ioniq 5 has shock absorbers that help dampen vibrations from the road to provide a smoother driving experience. Reinforcements on the rear axle and lower part of the car have resulted in improved stability and agility.

The rigidity of the body has been strengthened to reduce low-frequency noise, and the engine noise control has been optimised. Additional sound insulation for the rear wheel motor increases the overall silence.

In terms of safety, the bodywork, front and rear doors and B-pillars have been reinforced to improve side impact protection. The car also has a system with eight airbags, including side airbags in the second row, for increased safety.

Sporty N Line

The newcomer Ioniq 5 N Line is a sporty variant that will be positioned between the upgraded base model and the top model Ioniq 5 N. The N Line variant is expected to meet an increased demand for sporty styling, appealing to customers seeking a dynamic driving experience.

More kilometers – more comfort

The version features a more aggressive front and rear design with unique bumpers, side skirts and dedicated 20-inch rims to emphasize the model’s sporty appearance.

The coupe also has an exclusive design with N Line steering wheel and dashboard, exclusive N Line metal pedals, black headliner, sports seats with N logo, red contrast stitching and sporty seat covers.

Since the launch in 2021, according to OFV, over 10,000 new Ioniq 5 have been registered on Norwegian license plates – making it the brand’s best-selling model in the period. It’s only been half a year since we last drove an upgraded Ioniq 5, so development is ongoing at the Korean manufacturer.

The improved Ioniq 5 and new Ioniq 5 N Line will be available later in 2024, and prices are not yet clear.
