The Atlas is Volkswagen’s popular large SUV. Unlike the Volkswagen 5-seater flagship SUV Touareg, it has an additional 3rd row of seats. The Atlas completed its domestic environmental certification in the second half of last year and will be released next year. In particular, competition is expected ahead of the Hyundai Palisade full-change release in 2025.
The Atlas is introduced in Korea with the latest US specifications that were released last year. The Atlas powertrain consists of a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder gasoline turbo engine, an 8-speed automatic transmission, and four-wheel drive. It generates a maximum output of 273 horsepower and a maximum torque of 37.7 kgm. The combined fuel efficiency is 8.6 km/ℓ (city 7.6, highway 10.1) based on 21-inch wheels.
The Atlas’s body size is 5097mm in overall length, 1988mm in overall width, 1788mm in overall height, and 2979mm in wheelbase. Compared to the current Palisade, the overall length and wheelbase are 102mm and 79mm longer, respectively. The Atlas is operated as a 6-seater and 7-seater. The basic trunk capacity is 582ℓ, and up to 2735ℓ when the 2nd/3rd row seats are folded.
The Atlas offers a relatively spacious interior space, with 952mm of second-row legroom and 855mm of third-row legroom. The Atlas’s exterior is a genuine SUV style, reflecting the brand’s latest design language, such as the front horizontal bar. Domestic customer-preferred specifications, such as first-row ventilated seats, a digital instrument panel, and the latest ADAS system, are standard.
