The Alfa Romeo Junior can now also be ordered with combustion engines, under the name Junior Ibrida.

The Junior is one of the most controversial Alfas in years, and that’s not because of the name. One of the objections an Alfist might have to the Junior is the fact that it’s an EV. However, we have good news: in addition to the Junior Elettrica, the version with a petrol engine can now also be ordered in the Netherlands. The die-hard fans of the combustion engine can now get the Junior with a three-cylinder.

This variant is called the Junior Ibrida. Even if you don’t speak fluent Italian, you can probably figure out what this means. However, it is not a full-fledged hybrid, but only a mild hybrid. The Junior Ibrida has the well-known 136 hp 1.2 Turbo three-cylinder.

We all knew that already, but the price of the entry-level Junior was not yet known. That is now changing, because the car can be ordered as of today. You can do that from €34,000. Alfa keeps the amounts nicely round: it’s a difference of exactly €5,000 with the Junior Elettrica. In the latter case you do get 20 hp extra.

Perhaps even more interesting is the question: how does this Alfa compare to its Stellantis brothers? Of course, we’ll take a look at that too.

  • Fiat 600 Hybrid (136 hp): €30,990
  • Citroën C4 Hybrid 100: €31,275
  • Jeep Avenger E-Hybrid (100 hp): €32,900
  • Alfa Romeo Junior Ibrida (136 hp): €34,000
  • Peugeot 2008 Hybrid 136: €35,250
  • Opel Mokka 1.2 Turbo Hybrid (136 hp): €36,249
  • DS 3 Crossback Hybrid (136 hp): €38,390

Alfa has never been the price-packer within the group, but the Junior Ibrida is a nice bit cheaper than the Opel Mokka and the 2008. The Citroën C4 and Avenger are cheaper, but they only have 100 hp. For value-for-money you have to go to the Fiat 600, but the price of the Alfa is not bad in itself.

You can put together your own Junior Ibrida on the Alfa Romeo website!

    I may still be living in old times, but if I spend 34k of my hard earned money I really won’t settle for a lousy old b segment crossover with 136hp. But according to me there is hardly anything better to be had. Wouldn’t you buy a mazda 3 with 180hp or something for that money? Or am I completely wrong.

      But the Alfa crossover with 136PeeKa offers much more during transport;
      Driving dynamics, sportiness, high entry and emotion on the A2.
