Adult man playing with Lego at Silverstone [video]

Oh how cute, Lando Norris playing with McLaren P1 Lego on the Silverstone circuit.

With the advent of technical Lego, you as an adult man or woman have the ultimate excuse to still play with the blocks at an older age. In fact, a small brat probably won’t even manage to put together such a car. That’s a different kettle of fish than building a Lego house with a garden.

Lego is closely linked to the world of cars, the Danish brand has had cool collaborations in the past such as with Porsche and Bugatti. In addition to the products that came from this, Lego has also regularly made life-size cars, consisting of hundreds of thousands of building blocks. These were then displayed statically. This time Lego went a bit further..

Lando Norris steps into McLaren from Lego

Lego’s goal this time was to create a driving car out of blocks. They did this with the latest Lego Technic car, the McLaren P1. F1 driver Lando Norris was allowed to fulfill his obligations by getting behind the wheel of the Lego car at Silverstone. McLaren also hired YouTuber Sam Fane (Seen Through Glass) to talk the whole thing together. He does a great job.

The result is very cool. A life-size McLaren P1 made of Lego was actually released at Silverstone. The replica consists of 342,817 building blocks and weighs no less than 1,220 kg. The car is equipped with an electric motor and a car battery to actually be able to drive. There is also a fully functional steering, otherwise it is difficult to make turns.

23 specialists from Lego and McLaren Automotive worked on the project. The car took 8,344 man-hours and 393 different Lego bricks were used.

Playing with a Lego McLaren P1, scale 1:8, yourself can be done with a suggested retail price of €449.99. Lando Norris is not included. With 3,893 pieces for this car you will be done a bit faster than the life-size replica of Lego itself.

Lego competitor CaDa has released an (officially licensed) Mercedes-AMG One in the same 1:8 scale. Complete with L-motor + servomotor, receiver/battery box, a lighting set and a remote control with steering wheel controls for (well) less than 300 euros.

Maybe also newsworthy to mention that from Baku, Norris is the number 1 driver, and Piastri 2 to win both world championships. You can find this on e.g. the telegraaf, where it was already this morning, and then you can copy+paste it and place it here
