Audi’s new A6 specs revealed, smaller than Genesis G80

Audi released the specifications of the A6 e-tron on the 1st (local time). The A6 e-tron is an electric vehicle based on Audi’s next-generation electric vehicle-only platform PPE, and competes with the BMW i5 and Genesis G80 electric vehicles. The A6 e-tron has a smaller body size than competing models. It has a maximum driving range of 756 km according to the WLTP standard.

Audi will operate the even-numbered lineup as electric vehicles and the odd-numbered lineup as internal combustion engines through a name change, and the A6 e-tron is unrelated to the existing A6 internal combustion engine. The A6 internal combustion engine will change its name to A7 through a full model change. The A6 e-tron is based on the PPE, an electric vehicle-only platform jointly developed by Audi and Porsche.

The A6 e-tron is operated as a sedan and an Avant. The A6 e-tron body size is 4928mm in overall length, 2137mm in overall width (including mirrors), 2946mm in wheelbase, and 1487mm in overall height for the Sportback and 1527mm for the Avant. The A6 e-tron emphasizes a low and wide stance, but its overall length and wheelbase are shorter than those of the BMW i5.

Also, the A6 e-tron has a wheelbase that is 194mm shorter than the Genesis G80 electric car, which has been lengthened to the level of a long body through partial modification. However, the A6 e-tron has a design that takes air resistance into account, recording a drag coefficient of 0.21Cd, which is lower than the i5, G80, and even the Porsche Taycan. The Avant has a Cd of 0.24.

The A6 e-tron has a range of up to 756 km on a single charge based on WLTP standards with a 100 kWh battery, while the Avant has a range of 720 km. Audi plans to offer an 83 kWh battery option for the mass market in the future. The basic A6 e-tron model is equipped with a single motor. It is Audi’s first rear-wheel drive sedan since the 1930s.

The basic A6 e-tron has a maximum output of 367 horsepower and accelerates from a standstill to 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds. The A6 e-tron quattro all-wheel drive produces a total output of 428 horsepower. The high-performance model, the S6 e-tron, has a total output of 503 horsepower, 511 horsepower with launch control activated, and an acceleration performance of 0->100 km/h in 3.7 seconds.

The exterior of the A6 e-tron reflects Audi’s latest design language. The matrix LED headlights and the second-generation OLED rear lights support various signature graphics. Each can be selected from a total of eight graphics. Adaptive air suspension with four levels of ground clearance is optional.

The interior features an 11.9-inch digital instrument panel, a 14.5-inch display, and a 10.9-inch passenger display. It offers 4-zone air conditioning, the latest ADAS, Bang & Olufsen sound, and augmented reality head-up display. The trunk capacity is 502~1330â„“ for the Sportback and 502~1422â„“ for the Avant. The frunk is 27â„“.
