Criticized parking app is disappearing – here are the replacements

Now the city of Stockholm scraps its criticized parking app Pay P. The replacements can in some cases cost more – if the car owner has activated any additional service.

For those who live in Stockholm or drive to the capital, there has been a special parking app called Betala P. It has been criticized from several quarters, not least from the users because of bugs for example – but also in our test of parking apps.

– We have never had good reviews of our parking apps, Tommy Jakobsson, project manager at the traffic office in the city of Stockholm, previously told Dagens Nyheter.

The Pay P app is now scrapped. At the end of September, it will disappear and the city of Stockholm has instead signed agreements with Easypark, ePark, Mobill and Parkster.

By using any of these four services, visitors can continue to park in Stockholm and pay with their mobile phone free of charge.

However, some of the apps also offer various types of additional services that can cost money. For the car owner, it is therefore important to keep track of whether any kind of extra service has been added or not. In the case of Easypark, for example, the car owner may have to go to the service’s website to be able to park at no extra cost instead of using the app, where a service fee is added.

“But with all the suppliers, it must be possible to pay for parking without paying the service fee”, the city of Stockholm states in a press release.
