Extra strong Defender V8 can now finally tackle the G-Class

Finally there is a Defender that puts the G-Class to the test.

The Land Rover Defender is a great success for the JLR. Although they struggle a bit with Jaguar and the Discovery, they can more than compensate for that with the various Range Rovers and this Defender. In fact, we suspect that a lot of old Discovery customers have switched from Disco to such a Defender. Big, luxurious, cool and above all NOT a Range Rover.

The market for aftermarket providers for parts and upgrades for the Defender is enormous. It goes in different directions. From tough overlanders (rugged off-roaders) to asphalt monsters. Today we have an extra strong Defender for you. Mansory has been working on a Defender and they don’t do half work.

Clear purpose

In terms of appearance and upgrades, it is clear what goal Mansory had in mind: that of the Mercedes G63 AMG. There is of course an eight-cylinder Defender that you could see as a competitor, but the Mercedes is (considerably) faster and rougher. Fortunately, Mansory has many upgrades to bridge that difference.

The first thing you notice about the Demon Defender is the carbon body kit. It is extremely extensive. Not just a bumper and skirts, but almost everything seems to have been replaced by Ze Germans. Or at least equipped with a carbon fiber panel. Bonnet, front fenders, skirts, bumpers and even the doors are thicker! Of course, there are also large spotlights on the roof (at the front) and a Subaru Legacy B4 Blitzen-esque spoiler on the rear. The wheels measure no less than 24 inches. A carbon Mansory fuel flap completes the look.

You’ll be touching it a lot, because we suspect that this Land Rover will be quite thirsty. The 5.0 V8 with Eaton supercharger is now good for 650 hp and 870 Nm. This allows you to sprint to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 250 km/h. No, a G63 AMG is still faster on the sprint (it goes to 100 in 4.4), but on the A5 near Darmstad (a really nice part of the Autobahn) a G63 reaches a limited top of 220, but the Mansory thunders Defender passes at 250 km/h (also limited).

If you consider your taste superior and find this disgusting, congratulations! Then we recommend that you take a look at the interior. They have also tackled that at Mansory. As standard, the Defender is a great place to be, but you do notice that the Defender is mainly functional and the Discovery and Range Rover are slightly higher in the pecking order.

At Mansory they tackle it by re-upholstering the entire interior. So not only the seats, but also many plastic parts are now covered with Alcantara (but empty is also allowed). Plastic parts have also been replaced by carbon fiber. Is not that great? It certainly raises the level.

All parts are available immediately. Mansory prefers to make a Defender completely tailor-made for you, but you can also purchase some options separately.
