Ford Mustang Mach-E enters the Guinness Book of Records

Around 917 kilometers on just one charge: What sounds like a dream for drivers of electric cars has now actually been achieved.

A frequently asked and quite legitimate question in discussions about electric cars is: “How far can it go?” For many potential buyers, the range is ultimately a decisive criterion – especially for those who regularly have to cover long distances without time-consuming charging breaks.

Fortunately, there are now electric cars that can travel up to 900 kilometers on one battery charge. However, these are only manufacturer specifications and have nothing to do with reality. This was shown by a test by Car Whiz, in which the vehicles only managed just under 450 kilometers under realistic conditions. Webfleet has now impressively demonstrated that the ranges stated by manufacturers can actually be achieved: The Bridgestone subsidiary managed an incredible 916.74 kilometers on one battery charge, setting a new record that will soon even appear in the Guinness Book of Records.

24-hour drive through Great Britain

The company, which specializes in fleet management, used a Ford Mustang Mach-E in the “Extended Range” equipment line with 18-inch tires from the parent company Bridgestone. The battery capacity here is 91 kilowatt hours (kWh), which means that the vehicle can travel almost 600 kilometers according to the WLTP standard. The new record therefore exceeded the manufacturer’s range by an impressive 316 kilometers. What’s special about it: The almost 24-hour journey did not take place on a closed route, but on public roads in Norfolk, Lincolnshire, Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire and Cambridgeshire in Great Britain. The Ford Mustang Mach-E had to cope with both country roads and city traffic.

Previous record came from China

William Li, CEO of the car brand Nio, drove the ET7 1,044 kilometers on one charge during a livestream. However, the journey was not officially accompanied by the Guinness team and therefore not recognized as a record. The previous record was 906 kilometers and was set in Hangzhou, China, according to Bridgestone.
