Go cross-country with rugged Ioniq 5 XRT – which gets Tesla technology

Making a rugged version of a car is always a bit exciting. We remember cars like the Golf Country and XC70 Cross Country. Now Hyundai comes with the Ioniq 5 XRT.

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 XRT is “ideal for trips beyond the beaten track”, they write themselves. The modern “hot hatch”, which is actually as big as an SUV, is also adapted for Tesla’s North American charging standard NACS.

– We designed the Ioniq 5 XRT to provide more protection, connectivity and functionality, says Brad Arnold, exterior design manager, Hyundai Design North America, according to a press release.

– The digital camouflage pattern was created using our Ioniq pixel as a building block. The matte black 18-inch wheels demonstrate the same Ioniq pixel theme while providing strength and cooling.

As usual, there is a downside – the Hyundai Ioniq 5 XRT will only be offered in the US market. At least according to the information that is being communicated right now.

Among the novelties of the rugged Ioniq 5 XRT are the exterior colors Atlas Matte White, Ecotronic Gray Matte and Celadon Gray Matte. It also gets a new rear spoiler, modifying bumpers and new interior details.

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 XRT is offered only as AWD and with an 84 kWh battery. No preliminary scope is specified at the time of writing. The ground clearance, on the other hand, is stated to have been raised by 2.3 cm. Still.
