McLaren unveiled the Artura Spider on the 26th (local time). The Atura Spyder is an open car with a hardtop roof designed with air resistance in mind. The plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain produces a combined total output of 699 horsepower. The price is $273,800 (about 360 million won) in the United States.
Atura is a PHEV supercar that shows the future of McLaren. The Atura is also the first model to be equipped with the McLaren Carbon Lightweight Architecture (MCLA). Previously, it was only operated as a coupe, but the Spyder was added for the 2025 model. The coupe was also released in Korea.
The hardtop roof, designed with Atura Spyder’s air resistance in mind, can be opened and closed in 11 seconds at a maximum speed of 50 km/h. The roof is controlled by eight electric motors. The Atura Spyder was reinforced and the windshield surround was readjusted to ensure body rigidity when the roof is open. The curb weight increased slightly.
The Atura Spider combines a 3.0-liter V6 twin-turbo engine, an electric motor, a 7.4kWh battery, and an 8-speed transmission to produce a total output of 699 horsepower and a maximum torque of 73.4kgm. The total output is 19 horsepower higher than that of the Atura Coupe, and McLaren provides a free update to the total output of 19 horsepower to existing Atura Coupe customers.
The Atura Spyder takes 3 seconds to accelerate from a standstill to 100 km/h and 8.4 seconds to accelerate to 200 km/h. Acceleration to 300 km/h takes 21.6 seconds. The Spinning Wheel Pull-Away function has been added to ensure fast starting acceleration. When the battery is fully charged, it can drive up to 33km in EV mode.
The Atura Spyder is equipped with a new engine cooling system and brake cooling ducts. High-performance brakes consisting of carbon ceramic discs and lightweight aluminum calipers are standard. Damper valves and suspension response speed were improved to improve ride comfort and handling performance. B&W sound is provided as an option.
