Renault Captur has taken a tough approach and is now also available as an Alpine

Imagine Esteban Ocon or Pierre Gasly in the hard-worked Renault Captur, so you can now also order it as an Alpine.

It seems to be the rule rather than the exception these days. We are not talking about populist parties that cannot form. No, these are cars that receive multiple facelifts. In the past, this was a real thing for sports cars or other expensive cars that are built in low numbers and have to last a long time. The basis of the current Porsche 911 is simply the 991 from 2012, for example.

But we see that manufacturers are now also doing it a lot with regular cars. We just mentioned Porsche, which, for example, has facelifted the thoroughly updated Panamera for the second time. This week Suzuki did it with the Vitara and now Renault with a hard-worked Captur.

The second generation Renault Captur came onto the market in 2019, of course we wrote about it. Then there was a facelift in 2021, confrére @RubenPriest tells you all about it in this article.

But it’s now three years later and so it’s time for a new model? No, that’s too early. A term of five years is very short for a model. For some Asian brands it is six years, for most European brands it is seven.

The facelift for the Renault Captur is not a subtle one, on the contrary. It is a refresh that can be described as rigorous. The Captur was still based on the old design language, but not anymore. This means a more angular appearance with more straight lines and folds. This works excellently for the front, by the way.

It is ‘en profile’ where you can clearly see the voluptuous round shapes. The relationship with the original Captur is also clearly visible at the rear. It is certainly not an ugly car, but it seems as if two designers got to work (which is actually the case).

Esprit Alpine

The ‘Esprit Alpine’ version is completely new. That is not so much a faster Renault Captur, but a sportier variant. You could more or less see it as the successor to what used to be the ‘RS-Line’.

The Esprit Alpine has different bumpers, rims and of course high-gloss black details. You also get a sportier interior and you can choose that cool blue color.

The hard-worked Renault Captur is available with four engines, depending on where you live. It starts with the TCe90, a simple petrol engine with 90 hp. Then there is a TCe100 on LPG.

For Captur drivers with a caravan, the more powerful TCe160 can be driven. That’s a mild hybrid. If you want a full hybrid, that is also possible. It has 145 hp. Renault Netherlands confirms that the hard-hitting Renault Captur will appear on the market before the summer.

In my opinion, the back no longer matches the front. A bit messy all together.

Everyone over 75 in a convoy to the Renault dealer. It still seems to me to be the target group for this car.
