Saab museum is closed – rare Saabs are sold at auction

Fancy a Saab Sonett, a genuine police Saab 9-5 or an extra-long Saab 900 CD limousine? Then you have the chance now when unusual Saab collection is sold at auction.

The Saab Memorial Hall is called the Saab museum in Vännäs, which has attracted car enthusiasts and nostalgics for five years. The collection has been created by Tron Bach and consists of 18 Saabs. All the cars are to be sold, but to get the last ones out, a wall has to be sawn off.

Saab Memorial Hall is open until August 4. On August 8, you can bid on all the cars at Bilwebauctions.

Norwegian Tron Bach moved to Sweden in 2011 after being a hotel owner in Norway. He settled outside Vännäs and found behind the outhouse a worn Saab 92 that was covered in algae. He gave the car his love and that was the start of the fine collection. With the right of age, he now chooses to shut down and sell.

Long luxurious Saab 900 CD

Among the gems in it we find not only Saabs manufactured in Trollhättan but also a Finnish Saab 900 CD.

When the Wallenberg circle invested in Saab at the end of the 1970s, they wanted businessmen to drive Saabs – the solution was to have Finnish state-owned Oy Saab Valmet Ab in Nystad extend the Saab 900 sedan by twenty centimeters and provide the car with reading lights, rear footrests and other luxuries. The model was named 900 CD.

The example in the collection was bought in 1981 by Handelsbanken to serve as an executive car. In the back seat there is a substantial NMT car phone for important business calls.

Saab 9-5 2.3T EX59 Police car

For several decades, many police cars were Saabs. This Saab 9-5 2.3T from 2005 was ordered by the National Police Board and has a slightly different specification than the cars that were delivered to civilians. Among other things, the car is adapted for a higher curb weight.

When the police sold the car, the blue lights, sirens and decor were removed. Tron Bach has provided the car with period-typical blue and white decor with, among other things, the police version of the small national coat of arms. These markings on a police car must be covered when traveling on the road unless you have permission from the Police. The car comes with an extra instruction manual that is unique to police cars.

Saab Sonett III V4 – the last sports car

To ride on its success in motorsport, Saab made three generations of low-slung sports cars called the Sonett. A total of 10,236 Saab Sonnets were produced. Today there are around 300 in Sweden.

This copy belongs to the third generation and was sold in the USA. Saab enthusiast and former rally champion Sture Karlsson has serviced the car, adjusted the brake system and installed a new exhaust system. The car is drivable, but there is a list of things to fix.

Saab 900 S 16V – classic with low pressure turbo

The car has a two-liter low-pressure turbo that produces 145 horsepower. The car is inspected as a vintage vehicle.
