Kia is drawing attention by revealing the popular trims and options of the Sorento through its official SNS. As of 2023, 66.6% of Sorento customers chose the hybrid, and the Noblesse trim has many additional Drive Wise, Head-Up Display, and Style options. 85,811 Sorento units were sold last year.
The current Sorento is a partially modified model of the 4th generation Sorento (MQ4) released in 2020. The Sorento has established itself as Kia’s flagship SUV, receiving many choices from customers for its exterior design, price, and trim configuration. The Sorento recorded the highest sales among domestic SUVs last year, selling 85,811 units.
For reference, the competing model, Hyundai Santa Fe, sold 51,343 units in the same year. Last year, 66.6% of Sorento buyers chose the hybrid. The Sorento Hybrid is based on a 1.6 gasoline turbo engine and a 6-speed automatic transmission, generating a total output of 235 horsepower. Fuel efficiency is 13.8 to 15.7 km/ℓ depending on the trim.
The selection ratios for the Sorento 2.5 gasoline turbo and 2.2 diesel are 24.6% and 8.8%, respectively. The Sorento’s popular trims are Noblesse, Signature, and Gravity, with the selection ratio for the lowest trim, Prestige, being only 12.1%. The package options that customers practically must have are Drive Wise and Head-up Display.
Drive Wise consists of the latest driver assistance systems such as Highway Driving Assist 2, Smart Cruise Control with Driving Style Link, Upgraded Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Safe Exit Assist, and electronic child lock. The head-up display is bundled with Built-in Cam 2 and augmented reality navigation.
The style with 20-inch wheels and projection LED headlamps (sequential turn signal), panoramic sunroof, Smart Connect with fingerprint authentication system and Kia Digital Key 2, and Krell premium sound options were also found to be popular. The most preferred exterior color is Snow White Pearl.
Meanwhile, the price of the Sorento, which was composed based on customer preference last year, is 43.68 million won based on the hybrid and tax benefits (Noblesse, Drive Wise + Head-up Display). The Sorento price is 37.86-44.55 million won for the hybrid, 35.06-41.93 million won for the 2.5 gasoline turbo, and 36.79-43.66 million won for the 2.2 diesel.
