You could call the BMW M3 F80 affordable.
It’s a bit of a forgotten generation when it comes to the BMW M3, the F80. Now that’s more often the case with the generation that is 10 years old. The E30 has always been expensive, the E36 is rising considerably and a decently priced E46 you will not find anymore. There was a time when you could pick them up for 15 grand.
Even the E90 in a good specification is not very cheap anymore. Now you can still find a bargain in terms of M3s, but then you often have some challenges (bearing shells, water pump, injectors and so on).
BMW M3 F80
No, today we focus on the BMW M3 of the F80 generation. This was the first generation M3 where the development number deviated from the normal 3 Series. Just like the M3 E90, the BMW M3 F80 has the nose of the coupe variant. This makes the difference between the 335i with M Sport package and M3 quite big, smart move by BMW.
We went to the cheapest M3 in the Netherlands on Marktplaats and ended up with this car! We would like to offer the seller a compliment first. This BMW M3 F80 is a VAT car, but the price includes VAT!!! Unfortunately, it happens all too often that the listed prices are exclusive of VAT, even though it is not allowed.
The configuration of the cheapest M3 in the Netherlands is not very special: mother of pearl white with retrofitted 437M wheels and BMW Performance taillights. Now the undersigned can appreciate a white BMW, of course. The interior is relatively conservative: black chicken leather (‘Dakota’) for the special M Sport seats.
Equipment
In terms of options, the M3 is well equipped. Unfortunately, we often talk about a FULL-OPTIONS car, but you have everything you need: Harman Kardan audio, large navigation, lane departure warning, rear-end heating, parking sensors with camera and a carbon roof.
However, you buy a BMW M3 F80 for its performance. The S55 engine is good for 431 hp at 5,500 rpm and 550 Nm at only 1,850 rpm. With that, you can sprint to 100 km/h in just 4.1 seconds and reach a top speed of 250 km/h (limited of course). Funny: the weight is only 1,535 kg, only 35 kilos heavier than a new 120i.
