The Land Rover Defender is a ridiculous success

The Land Rover Defender is a ridiculous success. And JLR could use that.

With all the bad news about Jaguar lately, you would think that Jaguar-Land Rover (JLR) is in dire straits. After all, the group consisting of the two British brands that Ford sold to Tata is not that big to begin with. If one of the two brands practically takes over the beet bridge, you would say that the rinse becomes thin.

However, nothing could be further from the truth, because while Jaguar is having a hard time, Land Rover is taking this loss head on. Land Rovers are always last in lists of the most reliable cars. But, many people swear by them and keep buying them. It undeniably has a certain appearance. And of course the cars can really do something off-road, even if they are not usually used there. However, you are not going to dive 10,000 meters with your chronograph.

Anyway, the new Defender is a ridiculous success for JLR. More than a quarter of all JLR products sold last year were Defenders. This also resulted in healthy black figures for the group. On a (record) turnover of 29 billion pounds, 2.2 billion profit was made, a margin of 9.2 percent. That’s pretty solid in the automotive world, which is of course a mature industry (for the most part).

The largest Range Rover models (the Range Rover and the Range Rover Sport) are also going really fast. Together they also sold 130,000 copies. And the cake is not over yet. There are still 133,000 cars on order, of which 76% are Defenders, Range Rovers and Range Rover Sports. In principle, JLR can keep Jaguar on life support for a while, which is good news for all petrolheads. Whose deed.

My brother-in-law drove an Evoque for 2 years. Twice transmission to the fuck, once on holiday. He has recovered from LaRo for a while

Now an Evoque is 70% the same as an S-Max/Galaxy, and designed before the Tata era. So basically it was a Ford.

I also think the new Defender is really cool, but I don’t like the prices as much..

All things considered, JLR sold 420,500 cars in 2023. 64,200 of these were Djeks. So 15%. Jaguar records a small plus, but the F-Type and I-pace are doing poorly. The last -33%!

On the Land Rover side they increased by over 32%, which means they can keep Jaguar alive.
