This Bugatti Veyron used car has always been driven quietly

For several reasons, we don’t even mean that ironically, but this Bugatti Veyron used car is also known for being a very popular rental car.

Renting a car often sounds like something you need. Nowadays you can also rent a car because you can, we’ll leave the Indian stories about that open to interpretation. The fact is that you can still run a big business based on renting out muddy cars. For parties. Or photo shoots. Or all at once.

Good Life

Just ask Buena Vida. This company rents everything from Shelby GT500s to Lamborghini Aventadors and everything in between. But halfway through this year, a car was added to the lineup that eclipses all other Buena Vida vehicles in terms of superlatives. Which it did with every other car ever built in its time. The Bugatti Veyron.

Bugatti Veyron rental car

The 2009 Bugatti Veyron 16.4 was registered in May 2024, but apparently Buena Vida wants to get rid of it. Veyrons are notorious for being expensive to maintain. Because almost everything consists of unique parts, Bugatti can dictate what it costs, and even for this 18-year-old car, even the simplest things are very expensive. Changing the oil would cost a sum in the five figures.

Fortunately, you have to leave those kinds of amounts with the rental company to even get the Veyron. An hour’s drive will cost you 1,000 euros, a half day 5,000 euros (10:00 to 18:00) and 24 hours will cost you 10,000 euros. Deposit costs 10,000 euros and if you want 24 hours or longer 25,000 euros. However, if you go crazy with the Veyron, that deposit including the rental price only covers part of the damage. A Veyron is very expensive. Funny enough, that’s why they don’t do so well on the market compared to their rivals.

Auction

That’s why this white 2009 Bugatti Veyron is being auctioned instead of sold. You can still rent it, though, so we expect it to be an auction with a reserve. The Veyron cost around 1.7 million euros when new, now you can score it for less. Although the counter is already at 775,000 euros with four days to go.

Now the question of questions: would you dare to take on a Bugatti Veyron used car with a rental car history? It looks like the Veyron has been well cared for, but that’s just an optical illusion. Mechanically, you just have to keep a car like this in good condition and it’s questionable whether random renters do that properly. Although the car does cost amounts in the ‘you have to want it badly’ category, you can only drive it when you’re 25 with seven years of driving experience. We’re curious to see how this auction ends.
