Father and son with torn nose lose Dutch driving licenses in France by 200+

Now that’s what I call making lasting holiday memories. Father and son with a torn nose from the Netherlands have only temporarily lost their driver’s licenses.

Speeding is increasingly under fire. We will have to wait and see how long Rasen on the ‘Bahn will be allowed. There too, more and more voices are calling for it to be stopped. Banning everything is, as @lincoln would say, safe and effective.

In France, you are no longer allowed to drive fast at all. The fines are very progressive and you can easily lose your driving licence if you really overdo it. Exactly the latter, however, was what a father and son from the Netherlands did. They whipped their belly sliders up to very high speeds. But an Alpine A110 still caught them by the collar.

After all, the Gendarmes are pretty much Alpine’s only customers. Not that the A110 isn’t fun. But then again, for the price, everyone opts for a basic Cayman or something like that. Anyway, because the duo was clocked at 214 kilometers per hour, they were both fined 750 euros. In addition, the driving licenses of the speeding cars were immediately confiscated. The speed limit on the route was 130.

How the Ducati Panigale and Suzuki GSX-R are now coming back to the Netherlands we do not know. Tubantia reports that earlier in the day a Dutchman in an Alfa Romeo QV lost his driver’s license at a speed of 180 per hour. His wife was able to take over the steering wheel in that case.

Of course it is tempting to tear back home. Horse smells stable. But yes, you would do well to keep your eyes open for those Alpines… Erm… We mean of course… you would do well to watch the speed. Whereof note.

There is nothing wrong with speeding, there is a lot wrong with Dutch people across the border and their driving skills. 2 days ago my heart dropped 3 times when a yellow license plate with 90 goes left while you are coming at 214 on the A77.

Indeed, in Germany I always keep my left foot above the brake pedal when I see a yellow NL plate, but not with other plates…
