This generation of Aston Martin DBS still makes us drool.
This generation of DBS can be compared to the V8 Vantage and the DB9 or Virage from its time. Of all the models from that time, the DBS has dried up the best – as far as we are concerned. Because let’s be honest, we are looking at a car built in 2011. The 13-year-old Aston Martin could have rolled out of the factory today.
Of course, the magic of James Bond in the film Casino Royale helps to put the DBS on a pedestal. I wonder out loud whether the next generation, the DBS Superleggera, will be able to age as gracefully. I doubt it. Ask me again in 13 years.
This specific Aston Martin DBS was spotted, just on a weekday on a Dutch parking lot. Between all that boring look, the British coupe really stands out. Even in this color.
The Aston Martin DBS was delivered with a naturally aspirated 6.0 liter V12. Where its successor got two turbos and lost some cylinder capacity, this generation DBS was still allowed to go through the revs N/A.
Beautiful, because everyone who has ever heard this six-liter twelve-cylinder in real life can confirm what a monument it is. Even the start is iconic. In this case, it concerns a copy with the automatic transmission. Too bad, because for the truly timeless, you are better off with the manual transmission.
It’s great that a brand like Aston Martin still exists today. With beautiful new models like the DB12 and the recently unveiled Vanquish. If you look back, for many the generation in which this DBS saw the light of day is the peak for Aston in terms of design when it comes to the more modern models. Because yes, a DB5 or DB6 is almost impossible to surpass.
