Audi RS 6 Avant GT is built in 660 copies

Here comes a news most of us will appreciate: the new Audi RS 6 Avant GT. Also add that it is inspired by the IMSA GTO car Audi 90 quattro.

This is a performance model decked out both exterior and interior, which we’ll take a closer look at shortly. But first a little history. We promise to keep it interesting.

It’s all based on an apprenticeship project from 2020. For six months, twelve apprentices in the industry worked together with Audi Design to produce the coolest concept imaginable – the RS 6 GTO concept. The idea for the car you see in the pictures here was hatched from this design: Audi RS 6 Avant GT.

Final assembly of the Audi RS 6 Avant GT takes place in Böllinger höfe, where the Audi R8, Audi e-tron GT quattro and RS e-tron GT are also manufactured in smaller series.

Some of the unique design details here are the grill and the air intakes, which are completely finished in high-gloss black. Then we have the hood, made of carbon fiber and specially designed by Audi Sport GmbH.

Wheels in the size of 22 inches fill the wheel arches, which are also equipped with air outlets. The wheel housings, then, and not the wheels…

Side sills and rear-view mirror covers in high-gloss carbon fiber are commonplace in this context, and the rear section has a lowered cargo edge which in turn opens into a functioning diffuser.

On the left is the prototype: Audi 90 quattro IMSA GTO.

It should be added that this Audi RS 6 Avant GT is a “roof rail” delete. Which is a first for an RS 6 Avant.

On the inside, happy owners and potential criminals are met by the color black, with contrasting red stitching, RS 6 GT logos as far as the eye can see, and the car’s unique edition number in the center console – as one of 660 produced.

In terms of power, this IMSA lookalike delivers 630 horses, 0-100 km/h in 3.3 seconds and a top speed of 305 km/h. Ceramic brakes give you the stopping power you need.

Under the hood is a TFSI engine of four liters, with an associated combined consumption of 12.2-12.7 l/100 km according to WLTP. The gearbox is an eight-speed Tiptronic story with optimized gears. With this, along with adjustable coilovers for the first time in the car’s history, you should be able to get rid of your driver’s license in no time.

But why only 660 examples produced? It was not a leading question. We actually don’t know the answer. Price is also not communicated at the moment, however it is announced that it will be launched during the second quarter of the year.
